Oblationers

During the Episcopal service of Holy Communion, or Eucharist, the offerings of bread and wine are brought symbolically to the altar along with the offering plates. The wine carafe and bread container are carried by representatives of the congregation invited to participate prior to the service.

Frequently these members are a family unit, but they may be anybody who might be said to represent “the people of God” mentioned in the service. As they offer the “oblations” of the congregation, they are referred to as the “Oblationers” for that service.
